This group of awards recognises the contributions that academic staff and their partners are making towards research excellence and include awards for: 1) Researcher of the Year The Research Excellence Award for Researcher of the Year acknowledges the outstanding contributions to research by UOW individual researchers and aims to recognise and encourage outstanding researchers with proven international reputations who have made significant contributions in advancing knowledge and achieving exceptional research outcomes.

Two of UOW’s leading research experts count receiving the Vice-Chancellor’s Researcher of the Year Award as among their proudest achievements and cite how happy they were to be recognised and appreciated by the University and their colleagues.
Senior Professor Paul Cooper is a man who gets things done; his vision and commitment to establishing and growing UOW’s Sustainable Buildings Research Centre (SBRC) saw him win a Vice-Chancellor’s Outstanding Achievement in Research Partnerships Award, and the SBRC BlueScope Research Partnership grow to be recognised as one of Australia’s pre-eminent research centres for building sustainability.
Carmen Tang felt empowered when she won the 2017 Vice-Chancellor’s Award for Outstanding Service for Professional Services Staff, valuing that as a self-proclaimed quiet achiever, the award process ensured her hard work didn’t go unnoticed.
This new award emphasises the strategic importance of our international activities and the significant positive impact these have on our reputation and profile.
