Dear Colleagues,

This Thursday and Friday, a large cross-section of staff from across our organisation will attend and participate in the Vice-Chancellor’s virtual strategy event, themed Shaping our Shared Future 2021.

Led by our Strategic Planning team, this collaborative event is a vitally important opportunity for us to come together as an organisation to shape and define our future agenda – one that is positive, inclusive, collaborative and empowering for staff, students and our communities.

With over 150 participants, this year will bring together the largest number of UOW staff for such a strategy event, ensuring a diverse range of views is represented from across the organisation.

While not all UOW staff can take part in the entirety of the event, the following sessions will be available for all staff to view via live stream:

  • Acknowledgement of Country, Vice-Chancellor’s Welcome and Keynote Speaker, Mr Stan Grant: Thursday, 1 July, 2021. Time: 9.00 am – 10.00 am
  • Stakeholder Panel Perspectives: Thursday, 1 July, 2021. Time: from 1.00 pm
  • Shark Tank Pitch: Friday, 2 July, 2021. Time: from 1.00 pm

We are delighted to be live streaming to all staff, the keynote speech by Stan Grant, Vice-Chancellor’s Chair of Australian-Indigenous Belonging at Charles Sturt University, formerly ABC’s Global Affairs and Indigenous Affairs Analyst. Don’t miss this opportunity!

Our Panel session will also be live streamed, providing a unique opportunity to hear from a diverse cross-section of our students, early career researchers, community and industry partners representing the key stakeholders across our three Strategic Plan Goals.

On day two, we turn the tables for our staff to pitch their ideas for accelerating our progress towards the goals to our stakeholder panellists.

We strongly encourage everyone to access these critical conversations on the future of UOW, live streamed from this LINK.

Following the virtual strategy event, the Executive Team and I will regroup, synthesise the information and then share the ideas generated with UOW Council and all UOW staff in August.

If you have ideas you would like to be considered at this event, we encourage you to speak with colleagues attending from your faculty or unit.

We look forward to shaping a future for UOW that we all want to be part of.

Kind regards

Vice-Chancellor Patricia M. Davidson and
the UOW Senior Executive Team
