Last Friday on 15 May, the Vice-Chancellor spoke of the Government’s Roadmap to a COVIDSafe Australia – the 3 Step Plan to guide the phased move to less restrictive social distancing requirements and related measures.

Individual state and territory governments, including here in NSW, are now starting to implement measures for Phase 1 under this approved framework.

As the Vice-Chancellor advised considerable planning and assessment work is underway to establish the pathway for a partial return to our Campuses of staff and students over the coming months.

However, remote education delivery mode will continue for most teaching activities through Spring Session as well as Trimester 2 and 3.

The constraints on this pathway remain considerable and complex so please bear with us as we work through our plans. We will continue to respond as quickly as we can to Australian and NSW Government directives whilst ensuring your ongoing health and safety.

Right now, the social distancing measures and indoor capacity limits remain tight, so the current remote working arrangements remain in place across the University.

I will provide further advice as this planning progresses and we are able to advise you of our approach to support limited increases in staff being able to return to work on our campuses.

I encourage everyone to continue to follow UOW’s COVID-19 response advice and updates, including via the staff intranet, and to access available resources and support services.

Thank you once again for your patience and efforts while working remotely to ensure the continued effective operations of the University in these challenging circumstances.
