As we see out a different looking Week 1 of Spring session for 2020, I am inspired by the resilience and flexibility our staff and colleagues in ensuring the safety and well-being of our students and the community. Living in uncertain times is challenging and the University is remaining vigilant as the country continues to feel the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic.
I have recorded a short video update for you with a summary of our upcoming Spring session, ensuring safety on campus and the recent staff decision regarding proposed variations to the Enterprise Agreements here which I hope you will take the time to watch.
Virtual Open Day
Tomorrow we will be hosting our first Virtual Open Day, an online virtual experience allowing students to explore our degree options, interact with UOW experts, understand entry and study requirements, take 360° virtual tours of our campuses and gather any information they need to start at the University in 2021. Current registrations are sitting at 1,975 and are expected to rise in the next 24 hours.
I want to thank all staff who have been involved in the organisation of this event, and those who will attend tomorrow. As one of the first Universities in NSW to hold such an event this year, I have no doubt we will lead the way in professionalism and personalised experience for our future students.
I want to remind staff that your health, safety and well-being is a number one priority for us. As COVID-19 cases continue to rise and remain volatile across the East Coast of Australia, it is critical for everyone to follow Government restrictions and maintain strict hygiene practices. We must stay vigilant to help keep our UOW community safe.
Thank you again for all you have done to adapt to the changes and challenges imposed on us by this extraordinary situation.
With best wishes
Professor Paul Wellings CBE
