Professor Christopher Cook has been appointed Acting Executive Dean, Faculty of Business, following Professor Charles Areni’s departure from the University on 24 April.
Professor Cook was Executive Dean of the Faculty of Engineering and Information Sciences (EIS) until retirement in 2017. Since that time, Professor Cook has continued his involvement with research projects funded by industry and government in industrial automation and robotics, including potential applications of this technology to aged care. Professor Cook will continue to oversee these projects while he undertakes the interim role of Executive Dean for the Faculty of Business.
Professor Cook started his career with UOW when he became a lecturer in 1982 and then as a result of achieving funding from the Commonwealth and NSW Governments became, in 1984, the founding Managing Director of the Automation and Engineering Applications Centre Ltd., a non-profit company of the University. This company built and installed automation and robotic systems for manufacturing companies around Australia. He became Professor of Electrical Engineering at UOW in 1989 and was Head of School for 12 years before taking on the role of Executive Dean of Engineering. With the merger of the Faculty of Engineering and the Faculty of Informatics in 2013, Professor Cook became Executive Dean of the Faculty of Engineering and Information Sciences (EIS) until retirement.
Professor Cook is pleased to once again be part of UOW, working with colleagues to support the Faculty’s teaching and research objectives.
