The review of the Sabbatical Policy, renamed as Special Studies Program Policy is now complete, and the updated policy has been approved by the People and Culture, Finance and Infrastructure Committee (PACFIC).

Implementation of the updated policy has now begun. The Business Process Management (BPM) application form has undergone necessary updates to reflect any changes per the updated policy. The SSP application form will be active from Monday 13th September 2021 to 9 October 2021.

Staff members seeking to apply for the Special Studies Program (SSP) in 2022 must do this through the BPM application form under the newly approved SSP Policy. This does not includes staff members that had previously approved sabbatical leave cancelled/deferred/materially affected due to COVID-19. Impacted staff members are to resubmit their previously approved application with an addendum or cover note outlying how their application has changed due to current circumstances. Assessments will be made in light of the current COVID-19 situation in Australia including travel restrictions and current workload considerations and more broadly, in context of both feasibility and viability. Please speak with your Head of School or Head of Unit if you are interested in applying for SSP in 2022.

Please refer to the intranet for further information on the Special Studies Program policy.
