Responsibility areas within the Health & Communities portfolio have been reallocated across the Senior Executive following the recent departure of Professor Alison Jones.
Effective from Monday 18 January, strategic oversight of these areas has been reallocated until July 2021 to create flexibility for the Vice-Chancellor designate, Professor Patricia Davidson, who may review them at that time.
The Senior Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Professor Joe Chicharo, will have oversight of the Civic Strategy, Indigenous Strategy & WIC, and Regional Campuses. New reports into the SDVC portfolio are:
- Dr Kimberley McMahon-Coleman (Academic Director, Regional Campuses)
- Mr Grant Jacobs (Executive Manager, Health & Communities)
- Ms Jaymee Beveridge (Executive Director, Indigenous Strategy)
Ms Jaymee Beveridge was appointed to the role of Executive Director (Indigenous Strategy) for a period of 12 months, commencing from 1 January 2021, following the retirement of Professor Paul Chandler. Jaymee will provide senior Indigenous leadership for UOW, strategic advice and representation, and engagement with the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community. The role will have oversight of the implementation of the Reconciliation Action Plan; will manage all facets of Indigenous consultation; curriculum and student support; liaison with UOW faculties, and strategic and operational oversight of the Woolyungah Indigenous Centre.
The Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Global Strategy), Professor Alex Frino, will have oversight of the Metropolitan Campuses at the Sydney CBD, Southern Sydney and South Western Sydney.
The Chief Operating Officer, Mr Damien Israel; Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Education), Professor Theo Farrell; and Executive Dean (ASSH), Professor Glenn Salkeld, will form a new group with oversight of the strategy and planning of the Health & Wellbeing Precinct.
Professor Tracey Moroney has been appointed Acting Executive Dean of SMAH. Her role as Head of the School of Nursing will be filled by Professor Victoria Traynor (Acting).
Work to refine university operations across these areas will be ongoing in the coming weeks and we thank you for your patience as the new arrangements are implemented.
