The Desert Rose House is a net-zero energy home designed, built and operated by students from the University of Wollongong and TAFE NSW.

This house was Team UOW’s entry to the Solar Decathlon Middle East 2018 competition where they received a total of 9 awards including second place overall and first place in innovation.

The Desert Rose was not only designed and engineered to excel in the extreme climate of Dubai, but to also assist in the growing challenge of an ageing population. Team UOW gave specific focus on designing the home to improve the quality of life for people living with aged related disabilities, including dementia.

A group of students from Team UOW will present on their design and experiences in Dubai.
