2020 Concessional Dates Announced
With the first hints of summer around the corner, it’s time to start planning for the holiday season.
This year the University will close from 25 December 2020 and will reopen on 11 January 2021.
2020 Concessional Dates
The 2020 concessional dates are 29 to 31 December 2020.
There may be employees who will be required to work on concessional days. Affected employees will be notified by their manager/supervisor to attend work on the concessional days, and arrangements will be made to grant other days off at a mutually convenient time within a two month period.
First Special Additional Leave (SAL) Period
The first notified period of SAL is scheduled to occur between 4 to 8 January 2021.
Some staff members may not have enough purchased SAL to cover the notified closure periods. In these cases, staff will need to use accrued annual leave, accrued long service leave or take leave without pay to cover their absence.
Staff may wish to consider purchasing additional SAL days to a maximum of 15 days per year before the commencement of the Scheme. To purchase additional SAL days, please complete the Purchased Special Additional Leave Form and email it to email@example.com no later than 25 September 2020. For more information about SAL visit here.
It is expected that some areas of the University will be required to maintain a skeleton staff to ensure service delivery to students. Your manager/supervisor will let you know if this is the case for your team. These groups of staff will need to take their SAL at a pre-determined time and no later than 8 March 2021.
There is no need to apply for concessional leave or SAL, this will be done centrally by HR. However those that will not have enough SAL to cover the period must apply for annual, long service leave or leave without pay to cover their absence between 4-8 January 2021. If no application is received, HR will book leave on your behalf to cover your absence.
