I have been a staff member at the University, working in the library since 28 February 1992. I have worked in numerous teams within the library over the years.

What’s your/your team’s role at the University?

I work in the Collection Development team in the library. Our main function is to provide delivery of high impact client services to ensure the effective acquirement of library resources to support the learning, teaching and research needs of UOW staff and students.

What’s the most rewarding part of your job?

I love coming to work every day, I have a really supportive team and we work well together to accomplish our goals. We recently implemented Basware for processing our invoices to align with other units across campus. This was a major achievement within our team, during a peak processing time for invoices and other services.

What’s the most challenging?

I actually enjoy a challenge as it allows you to expand your knowledge. I enjoy problem solving through data evaluation.

Proudest work achievement at UOW?

Receiving an award for 25 years service at UOW.

What goals are you/your team working towards in 2019?

The team is building collections to support an online first strategy. We are also modernising our collections to meet the needs of our UOW community.

What’s your fondest memory so far of working at UOW?

I have seen many changes over the years from using the card catalogue to find books, using CD Roms to search for journal articles and using dial up speed to access the internet. I am very fortunate to work in a library that has a commitment to great service, and is constantly transforming the way people discover, create and engage with information.

Random fact about you or hidden talent?

In high school I was a Junior Alderman on the Wollongong Junior City Council, and also an advisory panel member.

What’s your favourite place in the world and why?

I have been fortunate to have travelled a lot when I was younger with my parents. In recent years I have travelled to New York, the Grand Canyon and many other amazing places.  My favourite place would have to be Fiji. The Fijians are so friendly and welcoming. I love experiencing their culture and way of life.

Something on your bucket list you’d care to share?

One of my bucket list items was to visit the Grand Canyon. The landscape changes with every passing minute. Photos do not do the canyon justice.  It is an indescribable destination of geologic colour.
