How long have you worked at UOW?

In some way, shape or form at least 9 years!

What’s your/your team’s role at the University?

Marketing & Communications Coordinator for the Commercial Developments Unit (CDU) based at the UOW Innovation Campus.

What’s the most rewarding part of your job?

Creating a community here at the Innovation Campus has been a crucial aspect of my job for the last four years. I believe that this community has flourished through a variety of events and initiatives that bring people together and create natural collision points. There is always more to do, but I think we have come a long way in the last few years. I love the little community we have created here at the Innovation Campus.

What’s the most challenging?

Like so many of us here at UOW, I wear a lot of hats! Juggling many tasks, roles and actioning new ideas and opportunities is always a challenge. But it is this constant juggling which helps me thrive in my workplace and pushes me to do more and to do better. Variety is the spice of life and I think that is so true in my workplace.

Proudest work achievement at UOW?

This is a tricky one! We have achieved so much as a Unit and a University that it is hard to pin one thing down. When I really think about it, here at the Innovation Campus we created a UOW-led serviced office and co-working space, SmartSpace, and watching this space thrive and grow has been a massive achievement for me and the CDU team! Well done CDU 🙂

What goals are you/your team working towards in 2020?

In 2020, the UOW Health & Wellbeing Precinct will keep me and my team busy! Developing a $500M Precinct, creating relationships across a broad spectrum of the community, delivering something that has social justice at its core and brings momentous benefits to the Illawarra is driving us all here at CDU. Jobs, better health & wellbeing and a thriving community here at the UOW Innovation Campus is the next stage of development and something I cannot wait to see come to fruition.

What’s your fondest memory so far of working at UOW?

I think what makes UOW special is the people. This isn’t so much a memory I know, but for me some of the people I have met here I will never forget. From those crazy individuals in my office, to people from across the different units and faculties, there are some amazing people that we sit next to each day and this is something that I will carry with me throughout my career.

Random fact about you or hidden talent?

I have been to every Disneyland in the world! This is just something that happened accidentally! I am a huge Disney fan like so many others across the globe, but I never intended to visit every Disneyland. It just happened! P.S. Disney Sea in Tokyo, Japan is the best!

What’s your favourite place in the world and why?

New York city or Paris. There aren’t many places in the world that really live up to expectations, but I must say Paris and NYC took my breath away. The dazzling lights, the exciting cultural activities and of course, the food were unforgettable in both cities!

Something on your bucket list you’d care to share?

I want to visit Africa and see the animals in their natural habitat. Lions, elephants, rhinos – the list goes on and on! In 2020, I hope to tick this adventure off the kick-the-bucket list.
