How long have you worked at UOW?

A little over six years.

What’s your/your team’s role at the University?

I am a Senior Lecturer in Economics at the Faculty of Business. Among others, I am also the Honours Program Coordinator of the School of Accounting, Economics, and Finance.

What’s the most rewarding part of your job?

Two things, equally: one is making a positive impact on students’ lives beyond the academic; two is influencing policy debates to secure the welfare of the most disadvantaged groups in society.

What’s the most challenging?

Same as above!

Proudest work achievement at UOW?

Finding an open staff parking slot at 9:45 am on Week 1 of the autumn semester of any given year.

What goals are you working towards in 2019?

Learning how to ride a bike properly so I can finally free myself from having to pay the annual staff parking fee and not be a slave to the limited free Gong Shuttle.

What’s your fondest memory so far of working at UOW?

The recent OCTAL award in recognition of, among others, my contributions to increasing diversity in the Economics discipline.

Random fact about you or hidden talent?

I really enjoy practical typography. It is bizarre to me that people don’t know the differences between a hyphen, an en dash, an em dash, and a minus sign. They’re not the same, folks, and they are most certainly not substitutes for each other.

What’s your favourite place in the world and why?

It’s wherever and whenever I am with family and friends. Even the most desolate of places is bearable if I’m there with people I like.

Something on your bucket list you’d care to share?

Visiting all continents!
