The Department of Industry, Science, Energy and Resources’ Black Summer Bushfire Recovery Grants Program is still open and the deadline has been extended to now close 5 pm 6 October 2021.

The objective of this grant opportunity is to support the recovery efforts of communities in eligible Local Government Areas (LGAs) affected by the 2019-20 bushfires and enables them to apply for projects that address community recovery needs within their own timeframes.

The Australian Government will directly fund successful applicants to conduct a range of projects designed to support the social and economic recovery, and restoration of the built environment in those communities.

The grant amount will be up to 100 per cent of eligible project expenditure (grant percentage) and must be between $20k-$10M. Projects must be completed by 31 March 2024.

Applications must be reviewed by the RSO, first drafts are due to the RSO research grants team at (and CC: research‐ by Wednesday 22 September. If you are not leading a project and are collaborating with another organisation acting as lead on the application, please let us know so we can assist with a Letter of Support.
