Children like to play with slime – you can pull it apart and put it back together again as the material heals itself, and it is a non-toxic material.
Professor Marc in het Panhuis (School of Chemistry and Molecular Bioscience) together with PhD student Alex Keller and Dr Holly Warren used slime as inspiration to make self-healing hydrogel electrodes based on readily available ingestible materials sourced from a local supermarket in Wollongong.
