In January 2021 the Federal Government provided Higher Education Providers with additional funds through the Research Support Program (RSP) to mitigate the impact of COVID-19 on Australia’s research activities.

The UOW COVID-impacted Emerging Research Leaders Scheme (CERLS) has been established to direct some of these additional funds towards short-term salary support for emerging research leaders who may not have met eligibility requirements for the previous PERL Fellowship Scheme, and who have experienced significant impacts of COVID on their research activities and opportunities.

UOW CERLS appointments commence from February 2022. All appointments regardless of start date and FTE, must conclude by 31 December 2022.

Candidates must be nominated by the Associate Dean Research of their host Faculty/AIIM. Direct applications from candidates will not be accepted.

UOW CERLS eligibility criteria, number of appointments available, and nomination process are restricted by the constraints of the RSP funding. Faculties/AIIM have been provided with eligibility lists to help target potential candidates.

Please visit the Research Services Office intranet page for the UOW CERLS Guidelines containing full eligibility requirements, nomination and selection process details, and conditions of appointment.
