Expressions of interest are invited from people interested in joining a Human Research Ethics Committee. People with a variety of backgrounds are sought – clinicians, professional carers, lay people (people not directly involved with the University or ISLHD), lawyers and people who have a role as a spiritual advisor in the community. If you know a community member who might be interested, please pass this on to them.

Committee members receive training in ethical review and have the opportunity to debate challenging issues to help protect the rights and wellbeing of research participants and promote ethical research.

Applicants should possess an ability to communicate well, be comfortable using email and reading online, and have sufficient time to attend monthly meetings and read research proposals. Committees meet one afternoon per month and positions are voluntary; travel/parking expenses for community members will be paid.
