Expressions of interest are invited for the role of Chair of the new Institutional Biosafety Committee (IBC) which is replacing the Gene Technology Committee. The new committee will be operative in November 2018.

The IBC is a Sub-Committee of the University Research Committee (URC); it is responsible for assisting the University in meeting its’ legislative obligations regarding the safety and regulatory aspects of research and teaching activities involving genetically modified organisms, Biosecurity Material, biohazard/biological materials, and Security Sensitive Biological Agents.

Your EOI should detail your knowledge of the principles of responsible research, your experience in gene technology, biosafety and security, your administrative experience, any leadership roles within the university sector, and a brief summary of your research interests. A full CV should also be submitted.

As this is a senior leadership role UOW applicants would normally hold a level D or E appointment, but Level C staff with appropriate experience are also welcome to apply.
