IMTS has recently been made aware of several UOW online events that have been posted to social media channels such as Twitter.

These are not appropriate forums to advertise seminars on as it enables members of the public to join uninvited and disrupt the event by harassing other participants or sharing unsolicited content. It could also lead to an unintentional UOW data breach.

More information on this can be found in our Knowledge Base Article titled Best Practice – Tips & Tricks – Videoconference, Webinars & Recording Sessions under the Videoconferencing Security section.

When you do have meetings that you need to promote publicly, use waiting rooms or meeting registration rather than posting meeting links and passcodes.

When you have presentations and large events your need to promote publicly, use webinars instead. This provides control over video, audio, chat and screen sharing. Contact the IT Service Desk in advance if you are considering running a webinar.
