Responding to the needs of the community Kids’ Uni opened an Early Intervention centre at Innovation Campus in January 2020. This new service provides early childhood intervention therapy services to children with a disability aged 0 to 5 years of age such as Early Start Denver Model therapy.
Due to rapid growth, this service has relocated to a larger space at UOW’s Wollongong campus on level 1a, building 11 at UOW Wollongong campus with dedicated parking for our children and families.
Open from Monday 25 May, the larger space will allow our team to provide support to more children and families with plans to introduce a speech therapist and another occupational therapist to our team.
Our therapists come from a range of backgrounds including Early Childhood Teaching, Psychology and Occupational Therapy and are all trained in the Early Start Denver Model (ESDM) for young children with Autism. ESDM is a comprehensive evidence based and play based early intervention program for children with autism and has also shown to be effective for children with other developmental delays.
In addition to EDSM therapy, current services include parent coaching playgroup, inclusion therapy, mainstream preschool visits, home visits, social skills group, transition to school groups, and occupational therapy.
