UOW Library is invested in being future-ready, redefining its relevance and value through both business and cultural transformation. Our present library system has been in place for over 20 years, so recently we undertook significant investigation to examine what might be possible for new integrated library systems, in conjunction with academic staff, students and Information and Technology Management Services (IMTS).

Objectives for this evaluation panel included the examination of potential strategic partner/s who offer complete solution platforms to:

  • deliver streamlined user-centred digital services
  • improve client accessibility, freeing staff from current repetitive technical work
  • enhance the potential for data analysis; and
  • increase the Library’s ability to improve services based on client needs.

Investigations were undertaken with both domestic and international campus perspectives in mind, as we continue to strive in meeting our purpose to “deliver convenient access to resources, expertise, and client-centred environments that inspire excellence in academic endeavour.”

Ex Libris was unanimously chosen as the best solution for our needs now and into the future. As a leading global provider of cloud-based solutions, Ex Libris will enable UOW Library to create, manage, and share knowledge to enhance user experience, empowering our staff to further develop digital collections and services while offering a highly advanced enterprise resource management system with extensive analytic capabilities.

Preparations are currently underway to implement this system, which will be launched in December this year. Further updates will be provided in the coming months.
