On 21 October, the Office of Global Student Mobility (OGSM) hosted an online event ‘Australian Indigenous Voices’ for our exchange students who are completing their UOW program abroad this semester. Students from the USA, Europe and Asia came along to the event to hear from Azrun and Chanse, WIC Student Ambassadors at the Woolyungah Indigenous Centre.
The students engaged in a discussion exploring the diversity of Indigenous culture in Australia and the dreaming story ‘Dolphin Dreaming’. Our overseas students also shared insights into their home cultures.
The event was a great way for our inbound exchange students to further connect with UOW since they aren’t able to be with us on campus this semester.
This event concluded the online engagement activities for Spring 2020, which included a cooking class, a talk on Australia’s unique flora and fauna and trivia. Students will be farewelled and welcomed into the UOW Alumni at online ceremonies on 10 and 11 November.
