Wollongong has been ranked 4th in Australia and 88th in the world in the nature index ‘Leading 200 science cities in SDG research’.

The Nature Index 2021 Science Cities, released on 24 September, takes a new focus on its science cities, as it examines their research output related to the United Nations’ 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), from the period of 2015-20.

The ranking explores SDG-related research output in 82 selected natural-sciences journals tracked by the Nature Index.

This is the first time Wollongong has been in the top 100 science cities in SDG research.
