COVID-19 forced the cancellation of UniClubs events and the opportunity for members to meet up in person but that hasn’t stopped many of our clubs from finding new ways to connect and engage with their members and the community. UOW Rotaract is one of those clubs, created new online events for members and moving their fortnightly meetings online making them fun, casual and social for all members to feel included.

To keep new and current members engaged, Rotaract have held various wine and cheese nights, Cards Against Humanity night and a Netflix party. Combating isolation loneliness was also a major focus for the club so they created a week-long isolation challenge with activities such as art, cooking and reading to get people involved.  The mental health of their members and fellow students has also been important to the club and they have been sharing important credible resources regarding mental health awareness during the exam period.

Not only have UOW Rotaract had incredible online presence with their club members, they have been extremely active in the local community. Most weeks, many members have volunteered their own time by helping Turbans 4 Australia in preparing nightly meals for International and domestic students on campus.

UOW Pulse is proud to be able to support our clubs during these unprecedented times.
