National Reconciliation Week is celebrated each year from 27 May to 3 June. The dates commemorate two significant milestones in Australia’s reconciliation journey— the successful 1967 referendum and the High Court Mabo decision.

This year’s theme for National Reconciliation Week is Don’t Keep History A Mystery. The theme invites all Australians to Learn, Share, and Grow – by exploring our past, learning more about Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander histories and cultures, and developing a deeper understanding of our national story.

UOW will be celebrating National Reconciliation Week this year hosting two key events: the Inaugural Reconciliation Guest Lecture with Indigenous law expert Terri Janke on 29 May; and a Reconciliation BBQ lunch with traditional dance performances, entertainment and traditional weaving on the Duck Pond lawn on 31 May.
