World Ocean Day (8 June 2021) celebrates the beautify, fragility and threats to our oceans, and aims to raise public awareness about the importance of protecting more of our Blue Planet.

The Fish Lab at UOW, led by senior lecturer Dr. Marian Wong, has launched an initiative called ‘Creatives for Conservation’, teaming up with local artists from the Sydney/Illawarra region to showcase their marine-related artworks to promote education and awareness.

Their next event will be at Orangegrove market, Lilyfield on Saturday 5 June, where they will be holding a stall to sell their artworks, talk to the community about marine conservation, and encourage people to take action by signing petitions to support World Ocean Day. The artworks for sale will include beautiful hand drawn cards, sustainable cutlery, and fishy ornaments.
