Campus East’s farewell dinner held last week served two very important purposes.

Firstly we farewelled our study abroad friends returning home and wished them all the best, and it was also an excellent chance to raise funds for a worthy charity. Student Leaders turned the Casuarina Room at Campus East into a pink haven as the dinner served as a major fund raiser for the McGrath Foundation.

Two Student Leaders volunteered to have their heads and beards shaved and this helped raise over $600 on the night. Another $300 was raised by other Student Leaders doing a collection during their duty rounds throughout the week. In keeping with the “pink” theme, entertainment was provided by two students who played a selection of music on the grand piano with “pink” as a music theme.

Combining fundraising with a farewell is an excellent way to bring a community together and many departing students expressed their gratitude and thanks for the communal effort to say goodbye.
